EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

is a powerful, research-backed therapy that helps people heal from trauma and other overwhelming life experiences. It works by helping your brain reprocess painful memories leaving them less intense and less emotionally charged.

During EMDR, the client briefly focuses on a traumatic memory while simultaneously engaging in bilateral stimulation—typically through guided eye movements—which has been shown to reduce the intensity and emotional charge of the memory.

EMDR has been shown to be especially effective for treating PTSD, and many people also find it helpful for anxiety, depression, chronic pain, addictions, and other emotional struggles.

I typically suggest that clients engage in DBT to learn skills to manage what comes to the surface during EMDR. This is particularly important for people with complex trauma histories. Contact me for more information or to setup an appointment
